Getting into Email Marketing
Have you ever been to a website with a section or pop up that asks for your email address and later sends you periodic promotional emails? These are powered by email marketing tools such as MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc. Essentially, they allow you to save email addresses as lists in the selected email marketing tool to create and send campaigns to those that have subscribed. One of the nice things about these tools is that most allow you to schedule campaigns in advance. From there, you are able to see who opened the email along with which link(s) within the campaign have been clicked.
Here are a few tips:
- Entice people to sign up to your mailing list by offering something (i.e. coupon code, free download, etc.)
- Preplan when emails will be sent (i.e. monthly/quarterly/etc., holidays, promotions, conditional, etc.) and send out on a consistent basis. But be careful not to send too often that may cause people to unsubscribe.
- Make dedicated landing pages with a sign up form that you can link to social media posts or ads
Don’t neglect considering this tool as its typically easier to convert people that have already shown interest or that are existing customers.
